Bushcraft Survival Skills – Fully Enclosed Tarp Set Up and Tested

In the field, overnight test of the Fully Enclosed Tarp Configuration. I wanted to see if this was really a feasible survival tarp set up. I also incorporated the SOL Escape Bivy in the test.

I would say this is a doable set up in a forest setting like I did. The most important would be to have or make a ton of stakes/pegs to secure it. The center pole could be made to work, but the ridgeline would be my preference. I would not use this in an open field or area though. I would use a more streamline design.

The SOL Bivy worked well. I wouldn’t say you are going to sleep like a baby, maybe enough to gain strength. I would wear as much as possible including footwear and get fully enclosed in it if I were going to rely on it.
