How steel wool and batteries can save your life – one minute survival tip

How steel wool and batteries can save your life if you are soaked and ice-cold temperatures require a campfire to dry the clothes and for warming up yourself.

Remember: Add some tinder to the steel wool, before you use the batteries (2 x AA). Birch bark is well suitable. As soon as the steel wool starts to burn, it needs a lot of oxygen. Therefore, blow hard onto the bundle, until the tinder starts to burn. If, finally, the fireplace flares up, steel wool and electric energy has possibly saved your life.

I have learnt this Survival technique in Brazil (taught by local soldiers).
