Survival Fire in a Rainforest Part 1 – Epic Fail First Attempt

Survival Fire In a Rain Forest Part 1 – First Fail – Wilderness Survival Fire Starting with a Fire Steel.

Starting a fire in a rain forest is a bit more difficult that starting a fire in the desert areas I’m more commonly in. But in my quest to continue developing my wilderness survival skills I wanted to take the opportunity to practice. This is some of the worst conditions. It’s winter time, it’s been raining for months basically and this weekend was some of the first sunshine the area had seen in weeks. Everything in the forest was wet! Even the amount of moisture in the air seemed to be making things more difficult.

This video is part one, and shows my first attempt to make fire using a spark from my fire still and some of the natural tinder I found.

Watch the follow up videos to see the additional attempts at making fire in this moist rain forest environment.
