Cave as a refuge (Part 2) – one minute survival tip
This time: Once you get to your bug out location – how will you be living in?
Do everything you can to take care of yourself, now more than ever before.
Security: Make sure that the rock structure is solid and there are no rocks poised to fall from the roof on you while you’re inside.
Supplies. Take appropriate supplies, and you should be able to wait out a disaster in relative safety.
Keep Morale High: Napoleon said an army “marches on its stomach.” Therefore keep in mind: hot, tasty food is vital to helping maintain a survival mindset, be it in a battle or a wilderness emergency!
Stay Warm. Caves are cold and often wet (although having a few drips from the ceiling is better than being out in a cold rain) : a dangerous recipe for hypothermia. Don’t wear cotton; synthetic materials retain less water and dry more quickly.
Create a warm environment. Will you need to bring your tent or perhaps build your own shelter?
