Survival Basics Ep. 1 Thermal A-Frame Shelter

The thermal A-Frame shelter is generally a small one or two man shelter that can be easily constructed without the need for tools or cord. It suits all sessions and environments apart from the forest floor of a tropical forest.

In my opinion it’s the most important shelter to learn how to construct as it’s the most effective short-term survival shelter that requires little materials or tools.

The shelter should only be just big enough to fit the occupant length ways and high enough to sit half way up. This provides maximum thermal insulation and use of materials.

Should you end up requiring a larger more habitable shelter for a longer stay, a steeply sloped lean too should be constructed over the A frame shelter length ways, Providing maximum protection from the elements.
